Good BBq Outside of Texas?!

Matt and I have this issue in not knowing where we want to eat for lunch. We both like a lot of different foods so figuring out what to eat is nearly  impossible. We were driving around the other day and I remembered there was a BBQ place that had moved in near our favorite stop, Dunkin Doughnuts. We figured, why not, how bad could it be? It wasn’t bad at all. The place is called Big Daddy’s BBQ and it’s located on North Calumet here in Valparaiso. The prices are actually very good. We both got pulled pork sandwhiches, which came with a side and a drink and it only cost $17 total.

The pulled pork was perfectly cooked and seasoned, almost didn’t need any sauce, but I put their spicy bbq sauce on it anyway. That sauce was so good, it was sweet with a kick, pretty much perfect. I got sweet potato fries, the only fries I’ll eat, and they were perfectly cooked and seasoned and it was a HUGE portion. Matt got the mac and cheese. It was creamy and made with Vermont cheddar so it had a bit of a kick, but it was a cheesy kick.

The decor in the restaurant is pretty cute. The front counter where you order has part of a smoker as the actual counter and there are classic  bbq items on the walls. You order at the front counter and the food is brought out t0 you, so it has a laid back feel (kind of like Culver’s but a bit more laid back in the feel). The staff is friendly and pretty nice. I’m not sure many people have tried the place because it was almost empty at lunch time. I’ve been telling everyone, I don’t want it to fail! Besides pulled pork, they have bbq chicken, brisket and ribs. Stop on in, you won’t be disappointed!!
