Most of you know I’ve been a HUGE fan of using coconut oil as one of my beauty supplies. It’s a great lotion, hair mask, and shaving gel. I actually got to work with it all day today making different things and my hands are (finally!) not super dry and gross. (Thanks to 15 years in food service…)

I’ve also decided to do other D.I.Y beauty things and health things. I’ve been using apple cider vinegar as an astringent on my face and that’s been working amazing. I’m not 100% sure why it works, but it does. It’s been keeping my face from getting too oily, which is getting to be a problem this time of year.

I discovered a honey mask online the other day and decided to give it a try. Honey is a natural anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory, which should be great for skin issues. Now, my skin isn’t awful except for once a month, but there’s no harm in getting into a regimen that will help in the future. I looked at a few recipes and decided to make my own with cinnamon, honey and lemon juice. The lemon juice is said to help with tightening the skin and getting rid of dark spots or scars, if you have any. (I weirdly don’t?). I think I should have put more cinnamon in the mix than I did, because mine is a bit runny, but it did stay on my face. I left it on for about 20 minutes and I can feel that my skin is a little softer. I don’t have any exact measurements for this mask, so you’ll just have to eyeball everything. I suggest using this mask once a week while you’re also using a coconut oil hair mask; they seem to need the same amount of time. This won’t give you fast results, but nothing like this will. Stick with it and your skin will improve.

DIY Honey Cinnamon Face Mask

I’ve noticed a huge change in my abilities thanks to my yoga practice. I’m much stronger (someone commented on my arm muscles yesterday!), I can stretch much further, and I’ve had a lot of people tell me I look so much healthier and happier now. I’ve been working on this for 4 months, I’m glad I wasn’t impatient like I have been in the past. I do feel much healthier (minus the cold I had this weekend, blaming the temperature change!) and am a lot more motivated to do things. Today I wanted to do nothing, but I did a ton of stuff and I still have the energy to keep going.

If you’re trying to make a change, as I’ve said before, don’t give up! You can do it, if it seems hard, that’s a good thing; you’re only going to get stronger.
